Teaching

Brooks College

Brooks College is an accredited AA/AS design school in Long Beach. I began teaching there in 2001, and have been Full Time Faculty since 2002. Improving my teaching & developing better curriculum have been my foci since first accepting the position. Primarily teaching for the MultiMedia & Graphic Design departments (38 different courses), I have also taught classes for the Network Technology & Fashion programs.

In mid-2005 a revised MultiMedia degree curriculum was rolled out, for which I am primarily responsible. It facilitates much more emphasis on CSS design, site flexibility and wireless design, Javascript and Ajax, video integration, and a workflow much more friendly to SEO.

Consulting

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Best Web Practices are without a doubt some of the most fun topics. Both of these can flow into courses on CSS and workflow optimization easily, depending on the need. Incorporating the flexibility for wireless design is also an option.

Corporate Training

Workflow smoothing and software training seem to be the most common requests. Removing the speed bumps in production allows for higher productivity. For the software, Adobe® & (formerly) Macromedia® products (Photoshop®, Illustrator® & Dreamweaver® respectively). Contact me with your specific needs and a training program can be tailored to suit. All programs include step-by-step handouts.

Platt College

During the last half of 2005 I did a 3-part, 3-day seminar series on web design for Platt College in Huntington Beach. This series covered User Interface design theory, site setup in Dreamweaver®, cross-browser compatable CSS layout & design, forms & ftp upload. At student request, a brief intro to php & mysql was also included.
